Here is my study of the races of the Realm. You may have noticed more abroad, but my main concern and study is with the Island.

Our scholars have decreed upon the realm, some changes of names for some of the races of the realm. Half-Elf at one time denoted one of Anthros(Human) and Elf blood and this is true nine stones out of ten. However, not all are equally half of each race and NOR are all kin of Fae folk, part Anthros. There are pure Fae folk or Elves and there are Faeshagh or Elfkin, who are part Elf and part some other civilized race. The variety that is part sturdy Anthros and part fair Elf, is the by far the most common Faeshagh or Elfkin face.

We have also uncovered the ancient name for humans in this enchanted time. As well, we have chosen to refer to the halfbreed Orks, as Orkin. Please read below for more notes.

Elf
Spirits from the Meta Planes came into the lands for purposes unknown and to do so, they needed to manifest themselves into corporeal forms. A few of those mist beings stayed behind and in time were the Elves. Many believe they came directly from the shining stars above and feel that they will one day return when they tire of living on this plane. The Elves are immortal in the sense that most of the olden blood Elves, don't fall to old age or disease. They can still be slain, but physical old age is foreign to them.

The Elve's beauty only refines with age and never will they see the wrinkled skin or stooped bodies of crones in their lineage. They are as tall, but not as broad as most of the Anthros(Humans). Their glowing countenances are eerily beautiful in a most magical way. The Elven folk are striking in appearance with well proportioned and straight bodies and gently noble foreheads framed by fine silky hair of golden shades, mahogany, roan and or sometimes silvery shades. Their eyes, more long than round see far and their slightly pointed almost lobeless ears hear with a delicacy and care unknown to most of the other folks.

It is said the Fae folk always walk in the light of the stars. Most see it as a "presence", but the trained eye can see the bright brilliant aura of these angelic beings. It is a wonder for any to see them celebratig the music they so love. Magic is also their friend and they work well with nature and nature works it's magic bye and bye for the Elves.

Dwarf
From the tracks of ancient nomadic cave beings, came this stout folk. For reasons not recorded by history, they retreated to the mountains. There the long beards found precious minerals and started their trade of mining. After years in the innards of the mountains, this being's growth stopped much shorter of Anthros height than it's previous few pebbles worth. Now they are full head shorter, but have lost naught of their stoutness. Some call them stunted men or Rock men.

Dwarves soon became masters of Smithery and Mechanics and after many a moon working in those trades they became a strong, pragmatic, taciturn and sturdy folk. Nothing of mehcnical wonder has ever been built without the hands of a Dwarven master being involved. They are marvelous smiths, craftsman and warriors, but never cared much for otherwordly magic.

The Dwarves have heavier facial features. The forehead is lower and heavier in the brow than a Anthros and almost the opposite of the Elves. It is supported a thick nose bridge and a large boned face. The Skull is thicker, giving them a slight advantage in fighting. Common blunt head blows don't budge them much. Dwarven hair is usually dark shades or red and grows thick and low on the forehead, though some males are dramatically bald on top. In all, there visage is usually like it was carved out of stone by a fine sculptor not able to afford delicacy in the shape. While the face is sturdy an not delicate is has grown refined and not like wild feral men of long ago.

Dwarves are also hairier than most of the races, save the Senrats who is a different kind of hairy. The Men pride themsleves on growing long beards that they may braid like they sometimes do with their dark coarse hair above. Facial hair is not uncommon in the females, though most who stay in contact with the Anthros folk, tend to control it so they may blend in with the ever growing Anthros population.

Anthros
After the Dwarves, a branch of taller beings were given breath into the world and some say are favored by the Spirits. The Meta Planes Spirits found they needed and wanted to return to our world, so instead of materializing new bodies, they inhabited the form of a new advancing being and gave birth to this new race.

Because of the infusion of these arcane Spirits that started the Elves long ago, the Anthros share as much of a special kinship with that older race as they do with their cousin race of Dwarves. The new beings were at once comfortable in the Earth plane for the Spirits had picked the most fruitful of gardens to live in and eat from but they soon became restless. Many left the gardens and roamed about to freely breed.
They eventually formed loose tribes of enormous varieties that spread across many lands.

The Anthros are now the most prevalent race and the most culturally influential and well rounded of the races. They exhibit more variety in physical characteristics and culture than any other race. Later in my day, we came to call the new breed of Anthros, "Human" or somtimes "Man".

Half-Elf or Faeshagh
The special kinship of some Anthros and the less aloof of the Elves, sometimes led to amorous relations resulting in children with both Anthros and Elven blood. The offspring of such unions have an ideal complement of a sturdier Anthros build with the fair delicate looks of the Elves.

The difference in Half-Elf and Elf lies mostly in the hair color and facial build. The face is more "Anthros" looking and the hair is sometimes just as varied as Anthros though mostly shades of blonde, brown and roan auburn. The sturdier body also betrays them as Half-breeds though they are still undeniably Elven in origin.

Though many sometimes find it hard to "fit in" with Anthros or Elven societies, they manage and are usually met with success. They are strong in both Anthros and Elven lore and good with a song to boot!

Gnome
They are distantly related to the Dwarves, but noticeably smaller and nowhere near as stout. Some say they are what might happen if an Elf and a Dwarf mated. Their impish features and ears suggest such a union. Their hair is also much finer than the Dwarves and for some odd reason, it grows white early in life.

The Gnome is more attuned to nature and they are equally at home in trees, boggy swamps, underground and in stone houses. They either live alone or in small groups like Beggans do. Gnome kingdoms are very rare.

They also love to dabble in magic and devote much of their time to scholarly pursuits. Because of their need and love of books, they are more apt than their distant Dwarf cousins, to be found in villages large and small. They seem to get along with most of the races and many become wise teachers and sages later in life.

Beggans
Sometimes known as "halflings", they are nimble and quick and can quickly maneouver in and out of most situations. They are one of the newer races who some say were smiled upon by the Spirits and hold still a certain favor with them. Though Beggans live quiet and simple lives, many of the other races feel endowed with special luck and charm when a Beggan is in their company. Despite their fairy luck, Beggans aren't particularly known to dabble in magery.

Beggans are a little smaller than the Gnome people and have a look all their own. Their hair is usually brown shades in males and blonde to brown in females and full of curly locks. The thick curly hair is the perfect frame for their round cherubic faces and fills the heart with joy to look at them. Their big round eyes and easy smiles reminds them of youth and of the joy of children.

Beggans lead a simple agrarian lifestyle and while most live in tree dwellings, some have begun to build houses into the hillsides.

Orkin
Strong and resilient like their Orc parents, but unfortunately for them, not as fair of looks as Anthros. Half-Orcs, like Anthros are very adept warriors and get about in most of the places traveled by Anthros. Looks can differ widely as there is no genetic blueprint for these rugged beings that ever stays in tact. Some can pass for Anthros while some are uglier than a poxy Hog arse. For the most part they tend to be a little stronger than Anthros but not as smart as the smartest Anthros.
Saurians
The Saurian is a large, very strong Anthropoid reptile with a powerful tail, sharp claws and sharper teeth. The males are usually a head taller than most Anthros and the females rival most Anthros males in size, but is neither as tall or stout as the male. Both are naturally stronger than any of the other races.

They have a scaled hide that protects them from all sorts of harm. The hide acts as a natural armor, which is a good thing since most armorers don't make anything that could fit the Saurian body type. the only armor they can find to fit are shields and bracers. Their weapons are limited too. The way their claws are formed makes it hard to weild anything but pole arms, cross bows, war hammers and war axes.

The Saurians are part of a very ancient and outland race, whose elite fighters, the 'Red Claws' are in high demand as adventurers. Some say they are possibly the oldest of the World's descendants, while others think them a bad Arcanist experiment. Saurians who study the Warrior profession with Anthros seldom learn how to take advantage of their natural racial skills such as poison spray attacks and poisonous bites. They also can't quite match the agility with arms that a more Anthros warrior can attain.

Senrats
The Senrat is a very agile and acrobatic half man and half rat looking creature that has been around as long as Anthros have been around. They were once southern mainland fighters called Sentry Warriors, hence their chosen race name. In recent times, they have migrated to the North Lands and Islands, where most of them now remain.

Their agility is unmatched. They can fall from heights that would break most men and land on their feet. This ability has been put to great use, though the motives are always questionable. In the underground, they are at the heart of any rogueish activity in the realm.

That concludes my study of the races. Know it well when you gather your party.
