< previous 8/29/2000: Added an image of a Lich in the gallery. 8/24/2000: I have finished a new creature called a Nagas. I have posted this in the gallery. The next creature will be a Lich. The Lich will be a collaboration between Thor Benitez and myself. I have put up a mirror for this site at Geocities. The url is here Bookmark it now! 8/21/2000: Added another monster to the gallery. This creature has been named "Yevil" by Wolf Diehr. This one was a collaboration between Thor Benitez and myself. Thor sketched the creature and I "fleshed" it out. Check out the sketched and "fleshed out" versions in the gallery. 8/21/2000: Added new image to the gallery. 8/18/2000: I have updated the interface screenshot with something that will resemble the 2d game more in its finished state. The image in the view will be one of many 2D renderings of the interior of a building. I have used the default Bard's Tale names to show where the characters and stats will be. When we have the world textured I will post a new screenshot. 8/18/2000: Well there seems to be a shift in votes with the team. We had 9 names up for vote for the 2D game then decided to add one more. The vote seems to have swayed toward Bard's Legacy-The Devil Whiskey. I actually changed my vote in favor of it as well. It has a nice ring to it. 8/18/2000: I have put up the proposed interface for the 2D game. We are in vote on a name for the 2D game and it looks like it may be Bard's Legacy - The Awakening. This name fits well as the events in the 2D game take place before the events in Dark Resurrection. Also I want to welcome Thor Benitez to our team. He will be working with Seb in the 3D modelling deptartment. 8/15/2000: BIG NEWS!! Although the 3D game will be out sometime next year we will be releasing a traditional style game this October. This is great news for classic Bards Tale fans as this game will be very close to the original Bards Tale but it will incorporate high resolution graphics. The way your party explores and engages in combat will be much like the classic Bards Tale games. The story will be closely tied into the huge Bards Legacy Dark Resurrection 3D game. It will be in first person pespective and combat will be turn based. Creatures will appear as 2d animated images. Consider this game the appetizer before the main course! 7/13/2000: I have added the answers to the riddles. 7/13/2000: Things will be moving in high gear this summer. We have a deadline of August 31 to complete all our material. My job will be character renditions and maintaining the site. I have created a new creature for the image gallery. It's a birdlike creature called a Dorendor. I'd like to credit Mike O'Hara for the name as it was his idea in the early stages of BTIV development. 7/06/2000: What's a fantasy crpg without dragons? Well the Bard's Legacy world will have few types of them. I have added one to the images section. 6/30/2000: I have added some scenic shots and a 3D version of the new Talurin. Check out the new images here. 6/20/2000: We have come up with a revamped version of Talurin. The old version did not fit the vision most of us had for him. Talurin is supposed to be an evil dark elf slight of build. The character I created in the image gallery looks too big and has too many human features. Let us know what you think of the revamped version. You can see the old and new versions in the image gallery. 6/14/2000: Another update! I want to officially welcome Sebastien Lukasczyk to the team. He will be creating the 3D models for the game. Check out the model of our bad guy in the Images section! 6/14/2000: I have added the audio to the campfire scene. This is cool! Check it out in the music/audio section! 6/14/2000: I have added Sebs 3D rendition of Talurin. Check it out in the Images section! 6/13/2000: I have all the updates here in the News section. I want to welcome Jens Cornely to the team. He will be the engine/level guru for our team. We are also in the process of recruiting a 3D modeller. We have someone in mind right now and they have submitted a model of Talurin. It will be posted on the images page tonight. We have been throwing around some ideas for riddles which will unlock and open certain doors and chests and allow the party to bypass traps. A few of them are on the Home page. If you have any comments/suggestion or ideas for this game and/or site let us know. You can contact me at robttt@mediaone.net 5/29/2000: Well I had to change the site yet again because of slow load time on some platforms. Hopefully this design will speed up the load time for the site. 5/16/2000: We are under major construction so please excuse the site for the next week. I will be adding a race and class list and a brief summary about the game in the About section. I have updated the Images section with screenshots, art and an interface draft. The Music section has been updated with some of Jon's work in MP3 format. If you want to ask any questions or throw us some suggestions you can reach us HERE. We are 10 members strong now! I will be adding the development team list tomorrow and I hope to get a message board up soon. 5/15/2000: I have put the Flash site on hold for now and threw this basic html site up. The demo is the major priority right now. We are well on our way to getting the demo together. We have recruited some very good talent to give our development team more muscle. I have taken down the old interface examples and have posted a new example. This version still needs tweaking but it is getting closer to what we want. The programming team has put together a workable demo using a previous interface combined with a working character creation system and the Genesis3D engine. I have added a shot of Talurin. For those who do not know he's the major meaney in the game. I want to welcome back Wolfgang Merkel and Jim Holloway who are on the programming side of things. I also want to welcome Justin Binns who has Joined our programmers and Chris Altnau who is an award winning writer. Man all this talent is overwhelming! Oh yeah and check out the little feature on us at Gamespy! 3/30/2000: I have just added an interactive demo on how the monsters in the game will appear. This demo was made with the Wild Tangent Game Driver. 3/14/2000: I had to make a correction to the title as I made a little error in the spelling of Resurrection. This is a temporary logo until I create something better. We now have a talented 3D modeller on the team and Jon has done some really nice work on the Songs. You will no longer hear midi sample but actual instruments in the music. We have a great wealth of material now. Peter Cwienk is writing a great story and Wolf Diehr has drawn up some great maps of the first levels. Check out Peters storyline in the Content section! Also added Creatures list.I have added a couple of more sites to the Links section as well. Check out Kier Howells Bards Tale site and Peter Cwienk's site. Also there is lots of content about the Bards Legacy project on Jons page. Email me with any comments or suggestions! 2/22/2000: I have updated the content page with a world map and a list of cities, towns and dungeons. We have more content like a monster list complete with attributes a preliminary story line and a race/attributes list. 2/20/2000: Well there have been quite some changes lately. As you can see I gave the site a facelift.I wanted to go with a look that would reflect more on the game and I also wanted to use my own graphics. You may have noticed the change in the title, well the game will not be a Bards Tale sequel due to the fact that we do not own the rights to the BT name. We are making a game that is very much inspired by The Bards Tale and it will draw much from it. This will continue to be a Bards Tale site as I will be adding some Bards Tale related content to it. I have some new screenshots of the Catacombs and Jon Starnes who is webmaster of our sister site has added some music for the game. You can visit Jon's site under Songs. If you have any ideas for the game, please let us know. All suggestions will definetly be appreciated. If you feel you can contribute to the game then by all means join the BT3D Development Group at Listbot. 2/6/2000: The Return to Skara Brae has been added to the Bards Tale Webring and the Genesis 3D Webring. Check out the other sites on these Webrings! I have updated the screenshots section once again. It now has some preliminary shots of the Dungeons. Jon Starnes has offered to contribute to help with the Web site and will be co webmaster of the BT3D site. He is creating the great music for the game and will be posting his songs on the site. I have been looking for a good program for creating characters for the BT3D game. I would like to use 3D Studio Max but the funds are not there at this time for that program. TrueSpace and/or Milkshape look like prime contenders for the task. If you have any suggestions for a better program let me know. The maps and story are still being developed and as soon as they are complete they will be posted here. Have a look around and keep the questions and/or suggestions coming as they are much appreciated. 1/31/2000: I have added some non BT related links and I have added a Bards Tale chatroom. Discuss anything about the BT3D project or anything that is related to The Bards Tale. Chat Now On a non Bards Tale note my fiancee is going to be giving birth to our first child so to celebrate I have added a countdown for the due date. 1/30/2000: Lot's of exciting news here. I just updated the "Screenshots" section. There are now full size images available and I have added preliminary screenshots of a basic Tavern. I have updated the Links sections with a couple of good Bards Tale sites. It looks like the Bards Tale 4 project is coming along nicely. Wolfgang Merkel has developed a nice engine for the project that will be true to classic Bards Tale. Jon Starnes has submitted some songs and a list of classes, check it out in the "About" section. I will be putting the songs up soon. In the meantime check them out here. We will have the final story from Jason Lane, maps from Don Pike and more stuff for the 3D project soon. 1/25/2000: I have done some tuning up with the site and I have updated the Team section. I will be adding a Monster/Character page soon. The Monsters/Character section will give you a glimpse of what they will look like along with their attributes. I will also be adding a Miscellaneous section. This will have mostly stuff like screensavers, themes wallpaper etc. I will also be adding the BTIII Clue book which will be scanned from the original. I have also added a discussion board. Check it out. 1/23/2000: Welcome! Today my site is online. I hope this provides a valuable resource for others like myself interested in developing a new game based on the Bards Tale in 3 dimensional graphics. I love the classic Bards Tale and I was dissapointed to see it shelved. It seems there is no shimmer of hope on the horizon for Electronic Arts or Interplay to create and release a BT4, hopefully I'm wrong about that. This is why this site has been created. How long can we wait? Another 10 years? No way! It's time something was done about it. Currently there is a development group in the process of creating a traditional style BT4 with a similiar but better turn based engine, much better graphics and a very good storyline. Geoff May has a site with lot's of good stuff regarding BT 1, 2 & 3 and hopefully what we can consider BT4. Check it out at http//:bt4.sgci.com/ So you ask why this site? Well I want to make a modern 3D Bards Tale style game. This game will be first person, same combat system and it might take place where BT3 left off. The engine of choice will be the Genesis3D or Jet 3D engine. The interface will also be similiar to the classic but up to todays standards. I will keep you posted with the development. Meanwhile check out some screen shots for the project or join the discussion list under "News". Check out the "News" section for the newest updates. < previous |
